Emily Gartshore e1791878569231

I love working with people and seeing what happens when they recognise their own strengths and potential. I began my career as a nurse in teenage and young adult cancer care, before moving into higher education, research and NHS leadership. I now work in a senior NHS role focused on developing people, teams and leaders.

Across these different roles, the part I have always enjoyed most is helping people find confidence, make sense of challenges and see what might be possible for them.

A little about me

Outside work, I love spending time with my family, drawing, baking, gardening and getting creative. I am also a full-time working mum balancing a busy career with a big home and blended family. That experience has taught me a great deal about priorities, relationships, identity and adapting when life does not go to plan.

What I can bring to your coaching

I have extensive experience of leading teams through change, developing others and navigating difficult conversations. I particularly enjoy supporting people with leadership, confidence, career decisions and finding their own way of working. But I am equally interested in the challenges beyond work: becoming a parent, blending families, managing competing demands, changing direction or rediscovering what
matters to you.

I also have a particular interest in neurodiversity, including supporting people with ADHD and autism to understand their strengths and explore approaches that suit how they think and work.

What working with me feels like

My style is warm, curious and down-to-earth, with humour and creativity along the way. I listen carefully, ask questions and am happy to challenge your thinking when it helps. One of my strengths is untangling complex thoughts, spotting patterns and turning reflection into practical next steps.

You know your life better than I do. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to help you think clearly, discover your own answers and move forward with greater confidence.

Coaching at Horizon

Life & Career Coaching

A space to think, find direction and make changes that work for you — in your career or in everyday life.

What is coaching?

Coaching is a collaborative conversation focused on where you are now and where you would like to be. It gives you dedicated time to step back, explore a challenge, understand what matters to you and decide what to do next. Rather than offering ready-made answers, I use questions, reflection and practical challenge to help you find your own way forward.

What to expect

Step 1

Start where you are

You do not need to have a clear goal. We can begin with whatever is on your mind.

Step 2

Explore what matters

We will use questions and reflection to understand the situation, identify strengths and consider different perspectives.

Step 3

Find your next step

Together we can explore realistic actions or experiments that feel right for you, and review what you learn.

Flexible sessions, wherever you are

Coaching can take place remotely online or by telephone, making it easier to fit sessions around work, caring responsibilities and everyday life. We can discuss what you hope to gain and agree a way of working that suits you.

Is coaching right for me?

Coaching can support personal and professional development, but it is different from counselling or psychotherapy. It is not a substitute for mental health assessment or treatment. If therapeutic support is more appropriate, Horizon can help you explore the right service.
